Letter of Concern to City of Halifax Regarding Clearing of Encampments

Homeless encampments have continued to grow in size and number across Canada since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of our work, The Shift monitors city engagement with these communities to help protect the human rights of residents and provide guidance on implementing the human rights approach to city officials. After hearing of the encampment evictions on 18th August in Halifax, NS, we sent this letter of concern to the Office of Mayor Mike Savage. As of this posting we have yet to receive a reply from the Office.
